Tiny Log Cabin

I made this Queen sized tiny log cabin quilt for my parents.  I believe that the strips are all cut at 1 or 1.5" so the blocks are very small.  It was a fun quilt but I am not sure that one of these is on my to do list anytime soon!!

Puzzle Me

I made this quilt for my mom.  She loves puzzles and when I saw this pattern, I couldn't pass it up!!

Dad's String Quilt

I made this string quilt for my dad.  I also had made one right before this that we sold tickets for a fundraiser for my young cousin that was battling cancer.  The string quilts are so much fun for someone who likes to be crazy on their quilts.  It was my first taste of a semi-non-geometric type quilt.  Both quilts were queen sized quilts.

Uncle Joe

I made this quilt for my uncle's 70th Birthday.  It is backed with flannel and was just a fun quilt to do!!

In the second picture is my dog Walter and I.  He is my quilting buddy.  While I am cutting or ironing, he sits in my chair at my sewing machine.  When I sew, he lays on his blanket under the cutting table.  He is an inspiration for me to sew and I enjoy his quiet company as I sew.

Great pattern for a kids quilt!

Senior 2001

I made this quilt for my Senior class of 2001.  Before graduation, everyone signed an individual block and after graduation, it was sewn together.  The center block is the design that I had taped on my cap and to the right, the class motto, flower, and colors. This is a nice memento to have, reminds you where you came from and what you have experienced.

Mosaic Tiles

Mosaic Art.  I took a quilting class for college credit in 2003 and for our final project, we had to pick something we had never done before.  I designed this quilt using graph paper and colored pencils (now I have a computer program to do it for me!)  In the top orange part, there are the hidden letters, "JESUS" which I got the idea from this wooden decor my uncle always had sitting on his dresser.  The hair is made from yarn and the clothing piece is a draped piece of fabric that is not quilted in.

Fall Leaves

Wall Hanging. This is a small wall hanging embellished with leaf shaped buttons.  I love the stripped accent as the inner border...

Farm Animals

Animals- all fenced up! This is one of the first quilts I pieced together.  When I moved for college I packed up my fabric and years later, I pulled this red and blue animal mess out of a sack and realized it was a quilt top, with no borders.  Showing how much I dislike borders, this quilt was finally finished quite a few years later as it only lacked a border...

Rainbows

Colorful 9-patch.  One of my favorites, this quilt has traveled with us and is perfect for whatever we need.  It has become a good quilt at the lake, to lay down under the shade, for the dogs to hang out, cover up in the coolness of the evening, sleep with in the tent, or cover up an ice chest!!  The batting is cotton, making the quilt easy to fold and store. 

Go KU!!

KU Quilt.  I am a 2007 KU Alum and proud to be a Jayhawk.  This quilt is a large queen size quilt and will be the focus of our "KU Room" in our house.  Rock Chalk!!

Mickey Mouse 9-Patch

Mickey Mouse 9-Patch.  I made this quilt quite a few years ago.  Great pattern for a quick quilt, so many possibilities.

Squared up

Batik Scrap Quilt.  I worked at a fabric store and during that time, fell in love with Batik fabrics, so, of course, I began collecting.  I found this pattern and knew exactly what I wanted to do with it!!  One of my most favorite quilts as well as one of my dogs favorite ones.  It sits on the top of the couch and it is a race to see who gets it first!!

T-Shirt Quilt

This is the T-Shirt quilt I made out of my school t-shirts.  Great way to save your memories without feeling bad about the t-shirts sitting in storage.  This pattern was really easy, no interfacing necessary.  You can use the fronts and backs of the t-shirts or as I did here, used the fronts of twice as many t-shirts to make one quilt.  I used a solid piece of flannel in between all the t-shirts, sewed a huge X through the square and sewed all the squares together.  I then snipped the edges as you would a rag-time quilt.  It definitely was a switch from making the normal t-shirt quilts.  And when you are finished, the quilt is done, no quilting or binding required!! (or borders, my very least favorite!!)

Batter Up!

St. Jude's Quilt. I made this quilt to for a contest/donation to the St. Jude's Children Research Hospital.  Their collection of fabric was so fun and so easy to work with.  Each quilt was required to use a certain amount of the St. Jude collection and met certain requirements to be able for the children to receive the quilts.  Such a fun project for such a great cause!!

Snowballs

Relay for Life Quilt.  I made this quilt to earn money through a drawing to donate to the Relay for Life.  My grandma lost her battle with breast cancer when I was in high school and we had participated in the Relay while she was here and it is something that I have found very important to me for the years after.
